Sock Volleyball Championships - Atlantic City 1994

During Jon's high school career he participated in 4 Neptune Classics, 3 Middletown South, 4 District, and 4 Region Tournaments.  He made it to the finals of all 15...

On Feb. 1st 1994, Jon Frent became the winningest wrestler in Ocean Twp. history with a 10-3 decision over Jeff Brand of Marlboro. He would go on to win 21 more matches in a season that culminated with an appearance in the NJSIAA State Tournament Finals, the first for any wrestler in Ocean history. Frent's 95 career wins stood as a school record for over 10 years, until December 28, 2005 when it was broken by Danny Lopes. Despite Jon's amazing success on the mat, he was a star wrestler second, a teammate first.

Jon's exceptional mat skills would help him earn a full scholarship to the University of Virginia. As in high school, Jon once again excelled on both the mat and in the classroom.

He earned his bachelor's degree in 1998 and continued on to obtain his master's degree from the Curry School of Commerce where he finished with a 4.0 average.

Frent would go on to work on Wall Street where he landed a job trading crude oil on the Mercantile Exchange. He would later pass his Series 7 test which would have allowed him to trade individual securities.

On June 17, 2000, Jon passed away in his parents' home at the age of 24.  Jon left behind two loving parents, Janice and David, as well as countless teammates and friends that will never forget him.

The Jon Frent Endowed Memorial Scholarship was created in a way to preserve Jon's legacy and has been awarded every year since 2002 to a wrestler in the Region 6 Tournament in which Jon is a member of the Hall of Fame.
